Bhagavad Gita · Verse 6.35

Verse 6.35

From Chapter 6 — The Yoga of Meditation

Original text

असंशयं महाबाहो मनो दुर्निग्रहं चलम्। अभ्यासेन तु कौन्तेय वैराग्येण च गृह्यते॥

Translation

“Without doubt the mind is restless and hard to hold. But it is held, by practice and by non-attachment.”

Source — Bhagavad Gītā 6.35 (traditional Sanskrit text). English rendering by Frenly Divine — a working translation, not an authoritative one.

Understand

What it is saying

Explanation — written by Frenly Divine, not scripture

Arjuna has just said the task sounds impossible. The reply concedes the difficulty first, then names the same two conditions Patañjali gives in Yoga Sūtra 1.12.

Why it matters

It is the most direct bridge between the Gītā and Patañjali: practice and non-attachment, in both texts.

Reflect

Where do you already practise something restless into steadiness?
